Today was our last at F.D.Roosevelt State Park. We spent lots of time visiting with friends and family during Thanksgiving and Christmas and our time there (four months) went by fast.We've changed our plans and won't be going to Gulf State Park this winter. The leaves here in central Georgia are going to be at their peak colors in another week or so. Saturday, Kyle had his birthday party (8!). We didn't go because it was a sleep over for about 16 boys and wayyyyyyy to crowded! We got back to FDR last Tuesday (the 20th) and have been just taking it easy around the park this past week. One of the hosts (a single lady) has been gone all week so we have taken over the hosts duties including checking the bathrooms, raking some pine straw from the sites and cleaning out any fire pits as needed.Today Sam went to the maintenance shop and split some wood to bundle and sell.

The 'lazy days of summer" are definitely here. The park is full almost every night and practically overflowing on the weekends. Yesterday we worked the By Pass at the front gate from 9am til 2pm. We visited Manatee Springs State Park on Monday to get a look at the springs. There is a nice boardwalk that goes through the woods along the edge of the springs and continues all the way down to where the spring enters the Suwanee River. We reworked the dinette area for a design we like much better. It allows more room for a larger sofa, to be purchased in the future. With the weather so hot, I drug out the crock pot and tried to come up with some ideas for dinners. Vegetable Beef Soup is a good old standby. The gas stove and oven tend to heat up the camper but eating hot soup in a cool camper works for us. In a rare twist the temp outside yesterday was so low, due to the overcast skies, that we were able to cook cornbread in the oven to go with the soup.

While I was in Georgia, I actually passed by the Varsity 6 times without stopping. Of course, I did have a couple of other hot dog joints in mind. After 5 weeks visiting family and friends in Georgia, I'm now back at the camper in Del Rio, Texas. The campground is only about 1/3 full and many of those are empty campers, used only occasionally by their (local) owners for fishing weekends. The campground is green and really looks nice. I haven't posted for a while but I am in Georgia visiting with family. Been here for 2 weeks and have 3 weeks left on my visit. Time is flying by. I must admit that I do prefer the weather in Texas right now vs. Georgia. We're having a lot of storms and rain and tornado warnings around Atlanta. But all in all, it's great to be here in the Spring with the dogwoods and azalea's in bloom. Can't wait

The trees around the campground are finally getting very green. It looks much better. We have about the biggest trees in the area and they get watered frequently. One day next week we will be moving the camper to another site. We have been looking at the sites at the end of the rows because they are much bigger and have more grass and Palm Trees. I found some pretty glass beads and decided to try my hand at making some bracelets. I had seen a couple of the ladies around the campground and got to talking to them.
