Kyle and Logan are staying with us for a couple of weeks. They love to go to the pool every day. There is not much else to do in this hot weather. They ride bikes some but not for very long. It's just too hot.

Last Thursday was Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A. Dress up like a cow for a free meal. They had cow cutouts on their web site in case you didn't have a costume. We printed up a bunch of them for the boys and off we went. They loved it! They moo'ed like a cow the whole way there. The staff was dressed up the the restaurant was decorated. There were a lot of people who were dressed like cows. The boys got a free meal so it was worth it! Next year, we will all do it...LOL!!

While we are in the Chattanooga area, we are staying at the Holiday Trav-L-Park in Rossville, GA. Coincidentally, it has the same name as the park we stayed at in Del Rio, Texas. There are a few more by this name throughout the country. In the early 1970's, they were opened as Holiday Inn Trav-L-Park. In the late 1970's, Holiday Inn determined they no longer wanted to be in the campground business and gave up all ownership at that time. All are now independently owned and operated. Many are top rated and this one is especially enjoyed by over night RVer's. Being only 1 mile from I-75, the park is a favorite of "snow birds" running up and down the interstate between Florida and northern states. We see all sizes and types of Motor homes, Class C's and 5th Wheels, including some really nice Prevost buses.

This Monarch was especially nice. Their tag read "TOYS4US".

Having a fun week with Logan, swimming at the pool every day. It is REALLY hot and humid! I left my camera at Samantha's last weekend so won't have any pics for a couple of weeks. :-( I just may have to go get it soon.

Be careful what you wish for..............you might have to wait, and wait, and wait!!!

We are both pretty fed up with the feds and will just stay where we are for the summer. We got a call from Gulf Islands over a week ago yet nothing is happening as of today. No start date, no ok from HR (they appear to be in Mississippi where there are no phones!), no nothing. The person in charge (?) of whatever, keeps calling to let us know nothing. If Sam has to do another background check it will take at least 3 weeks. And the grade level is different so that is freaking them out? What a zoo. It's a wonder they ever accomplish anything. This is the third time we have dealt with federal employees from NPS, or Dept. of Interior, and they are all alike.......slooooooooooooowwww.

Anyway, we are planning a nice trip to visit Samantha, Nate and the boys this weekend and will probably bring Logan back for a week or so.

OMG!! Sam just got a call from Gulf Islands National Seashore about a maintenance position............he has to call them back when he gets back to the camper today at 4:00. The lady said she had a few more to call ahead of him (?) so here's hoping it works out. We would give two weeks' notice here and be on our way SOUTH!

Best laid plans............

Woweee...been gone for a while! The dog ate my computer cord. ;-(

We bit the bullet and I ate my words and now we are in Rossville, GA, and Sam is once again working for the Feds at the Chickamauga & Chattanooga Nat'l Military Park. Oh well...money does talk.

We left Tanner SP on April 10 and headed up to James Floyd SP, on our way to Rossville. We stayed there for a week...it is a beautiful park...similar to Tanner only bigger. Sam started his new position on April 12 and "commuted" from Floyd. The next weekend we moved up to Rossville to the Holiday Trav-L-Park. It looked better this time, now that the dogwoods were blooming and the grass had greened up. It's a lot like the park by the same name that we stayed at in Del Rio, TX last year. We did get a site on the end of the row so we are looking out on the main road and can see all the "comers and goers".

We are just about 3 hours from family and are going to visit them all on Friday, 5/7, after Sam gets home from work. It does maintenance work....drives the company truck to Lookout Mountain every day (about 15 minutes away) and that will be his territory for the duration, I guess.

I will post some pictures as soon as I get a new cord for the computer. There's not a whole lot to do around here. We've already been to Ruby Falls, Rock City & Lookout Mountain in prior years. There is a River Boat Cruise we may take one day and the River Walk in Chattanooga (15 minutes) is pretty. Largest mall in Tennessee is just 10 minutes away. Everything is really close because Chattanooga is not that big. There are probably 5 Walmarts within a 15 mile radius. No matter where you go, there is always one handy! :-)

Our time here at Tanner State Park is winding down. We really have enjoyed being here for 6 months (Wow!) but I'm ready to get on with it...and so is Sam.

We haven't heard anything definite from Chicamauga up in north Georgia so we are probably heading to Florida one day this week. The weather here is beautiful - 70's up to 80 - and a great time to hit the road. I wasn't looking forward to Ft. Oglethorpe, anyway. We drove up there one day last week and it looked pretty bleak. The campground with the monthly rental sites was not appealing. I'd rather be in Florida without 2 dimes to rub together than to be up there for the next 6 months with $$.

They love coming to the camper and spending time with us, even though they are super busy with Little League T-Ball. Kyle plays on one team and Logan & Tyler are on another one. Between the two teams, they practice or have a game 4 nights a week and twice on Saturday! Here's Tyler (3 yr.) riding his bike. The campground is flat at the back where we are located and they can ride and ride.

I can't believe it's been so long since I've blogged! Nothing much going on....just every day activities in the campground here at John Tanner State Park. The weather has been awful; coldest I remember in Georgia in many, many years. :-(

We are sitting here waiting to hear on a job with the National Park Service in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, at the Chicamauga National Military Park. It's a maintenance position for Sam, similar to the one last year in Texas. We sent in the final paperwork today so hopefully we will hear definite within the next week. Job is supposed to start March 28th.

If this job comes through, we are so sorry we won't be in Florida for the summer. We were looking forward to St. Andrews State Park for April, May and June. This new job will keep us in north Georgia until the end of September (6 months). That will be 1 year away from Florida ...... waaaaaaaay too long, but we can't hardly turn down the $$$$!! And we'll still be within a couple hours of kids and grand kids. Guess I can enjoy that for 6 more months...LOL! :-)

We are already planning our escape back to Florida in October and hopefully, to meet up with good friends Bill & Betty. We met them in Texas and they are now in Homasasa, enjoying the palm trees and mild weather. "Hi ya'll....happy anniversary!"
