Here are some pictures of the rv park. It's very nice and quiet....except for the railroad tracks nearby! Not too bad though....we can overlook the train noise because everything else is good.

August 8.......

I returned to Florida, to the camper at St. Andrews S.P. Hated to leave all the family but happy to be back to the camper & Sam & Buddy. Here's some thoughts about Georgia, copied from my Facebook page:

I was raised in Georgia, where you can use the ‘hootch or the Big Chicken for directions. We visit the Atlantic Ocean, Jekyll Island, and Paula Deen in Savannah. We cherish azaleas and dogwoods in the spring and magnolias all summer. We take pilgrimages to the mountains in the fall to see the leaves and keep our babies home from school if it snows. We love the Dawgs, Jackets, Braves & Falcons, Krispy Kreme, Vidalia onions, peaches, boiled peanuts, and a large Frosted Orange. We celebrate the ’96 Olympics in Atlanta and the country’s first gold rush in Dahlonega. We play football, fish in mountain streams, kayak in the Okefenokee, camp, hunt and surf. All soft drinks are called COKE!

My first flight on an airplane with props instead of jet engines. I won't do that again! Just too bumby and too scary for me. This was Continental's "code share partner" flying from Del Rio to Houston.

The Houston to Atlanta flight was on Continental's Express, operated by Colgen Air - the same company whose plane crashed near Buffalo in March. I was nervous.

Houston in overcast skies. There were thunderstorms in the area. We managed to go around them.

Everyone gathered for the Easter Egg Hunt. It's hard to get all five to be still at one time!

PhotoHunt and Project 365 Day 42

The Photo Hunt theme for this Saturday is WIDE.

The seven lane Interstate (I-75/I-85) going through Atlanta seems very WIDE, unless you’re towing a travel trailer or driving a motor home in which case the lanes seem very narrow!

~ PROJECT 365 DAY 1 ~

I thought the best way to begin my Project 365 was with a picture of the camera I use. It's a Kodak Ease Share Z650 with 10X Zoom. Not too big, not too little...just right for me. I've had it about 1 & 1/2 years now. I love the zoom feature.

And here is my first real picture for Project 365, even though I didn't take it today I did take it a few weeks ago. If anyone is ever in Atlanta and needs directions on the Northwest side of town, the Big Chicken is given as a reference point. I guess it's the original KFC store. Hey - I can't find her on my Bird Watcher's Life List! Aw shucks.

~ Take a load off ~

We spent almost two weeks at our daughter's house, enjoying grandkids. That's over 5 weeks that we were "home", between Samantha's, Scott's and Mother's. The time really flew by. We left last Sunday and drove straight down to Florida to our cousin's place. It's a boring 6-hour drive but the trip went well with no problems pulling the new camper. The truck does a good job pulling, considering we are very close to surpassing the weight limit. Now we're taking a few days to lighten the load.....deciding what to keep and what to store. My set of Visionware (4 pcs. with 4 lids) had to go. Way to heavy. I kept one medium saucepan, one large fry pan, one small fry pan, the electric skillet and the crock pot, muffin pan, square lasagna pan, square cake pan, & magic bullet. That's enough.

Stopping half-way to Florida for free whoppers for lunch.

We still have a few boxes to sort through. I can't find my dishes. I had a new set of stoneware - white glazed with embossed sea shell pattern. I was using half the 8-piece place setting. The unused half is still in the box at my son's basement....and we think the others got put there by mistake. I also have another new set of plain, cream colored stoneware in the basement. I guess we'll find them at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Til then it's paper or plastic.

Footnote: Gas in Florida is $3.19! WoooHooo!!!

~ Hot 'Lanta ~

Here's a view of what we see when we are in Atlanta and traveling between my son's house in Flowery Branch and my daughter's house in Winston. 1 1/2 hours on I-20, I-75-85, I-85 and I-985. We always stay overnight or more. Not a fun trip to make twice in one day! The pictures were taken Friday in 5 o'clock traffic just as we were coming up on the city proper. Once we get past this point, the building are too close to get pictures.

7 Lanes and growing!

It doesn't seem to matter what time of day we make the trip, it is always 1 hour on the Interstates and 15 minutes at each end getting to their houses. There is always traffic somewhere but usually it is moving along at a nice pace. Outside of town, the speed limit is 65 or 70 (On I-985) and usually no backups to slow it down.
